It should be lowered to 17 or 18 imo if you can get shipped to war at that age then you should be able to have a drink at that age to people harp on underaged drinking is irresponisble but I know plenty of grown adults well past the legal limit who got DUI's or DWI's and even into horrible accidents because they where drunk driving age shouldnt be a factor when it comes to the consequences of drinking long, hell most European countries allow it at 16.

I know when I was in Michigan for several years for work that several of my coworkers talked about how as teenagers of 17-18 years would cross the border into Canada to go drinking for that very reason.
I agree that 21 does seem a tad high for a drinking age when teenagers do it anyway. I am of the same opinion that if you can be deployed to war, purchase a house, etc at 18, you should be allowed to legally consume alcohol.

know what's really crazy despite being able to legally drive at 16, 15 in a lot of southern states you can't rent a car until you're 25 so you can be a 24 year old war bound alcoholic who just bought a 12 guage but the draw the line at car rental until you're 25

That could be state specific though. I think most car rentals are allowed for twenty-one year olds. Most of the arguments for lowering the drinking age falls apart because,
1.) Teenagers will still drink at 18-20 regardless of being allowed to or not.
2.) Other countries allow youths as young as 14 or so to have wine or small volumes of alcohol with dinner.
